Bromley FC players and staff joined with the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Bromley, dignitaries, supporters and residents today to celebrate the local club’s successful season.
Thousands of fans, old and new, took to the streets to applaud an open-top bus carrying the football stars and came together at an event at The Glades to mark a uniquely successful season for the club’s two senior sides.
Last Saturday, the men’s team triumphed in a nail-biting final at Wembley stadium, winning the Buildbase FA Trophy. The Ladies team, meanwhile, enjoyed a dominant season, winning 13 out of 16 games to finish at the top of the Greater London Women’s Football League Premier Division.
Councillor Hannah Gray, Mayor of Bromley, commented: “It was brilliant to be able to work with Bromley FC and The Glades to bring Bromley together to celebrate such a fantastic achievement for the football club. I was actually at Wembley last weekend, and it was wonderful to recreate the bubbling atmosphere of that thrilling afternoon back in Bromley today. It’s another reason we can all be proud of Bromley.”
While residents watched the teams pass through Bromley’s streets on a traditional open-top bus victory parade, those at The Glades saw the sports stars welcomed on stage by The Mayor of Bromley. Many were also lucky enough to get autographs from the winning teams.
Bromley FC mens team Manager, Andy Woodman, added: “What a great way to finish of the season! It was a privilege to be able to celebrate properly with the fans and we hope everyone join us down the road at Hayes Lane to support all the teams next season as we strive to build on this success.”
