Beware of rogue builders

Residents are warned to thoroughly check builders’ and other tradespeople credentials after a trade organisation logo was illegally used and fraudulent payment demanded from a Bromley resident.

Keith Retter of Somerville Road Penge, was found guilty of fraud offences having already pleaded guilty to the misuse of a trade association logo at Bromley Magistrates’ Court. Mr Retter’s fines and costs totalled £5,285. He was ordered to pay £3200 in compensation to the Bromley resident and £2000 towards the council’s costs. A £85 victim surcharge was added and a monthly collection order for £80 was made along with a community order for 150 hours unpaid work.
