Bromley trading standards is reminding residents to be wary of traders offering driveway, roof, patio or path cleaning through cold calling at your door. They can also leave glossy leaflets with you or through your door.

Whatever the work being offered, dealing with doorstep traders risks shoddiness, having no redress, and being substantially overcharged.

Sometimes, doorstep traders will encourage you to allow them to 'patch-test' your driveway to show how it could look, or they may even do this without your permission. The aim of this is to put pressure on you to have all the work done, as it will often leave an unsightly patch.

Don't deal with doorstep traders.

If it is necessary to clean your drive, roof, patio, etc., do your research, take your time, and seek several quotes. Find a reputable trader at  Trading Standards Checked.
