Ade Adetosoye OBE was confirmed to the post of Chief Executive of Bromley Council at its Full Council meeting on Monday evening, 15 July 2019.

Having joined the council as Deputy Chief Executive in December 2016, Mr Adetosoye had been acting up as Interim Chief Executive from December 2018 following the retirement of his predecessor.

Since that time, at the direction of the council’s elected leadership, Mr Adetosoye has been preparing a new strategic vision for the council entitled ‘Transforming Bromley’, a four-year programme designed to completely overhaul the borough’s six main business areas: housing; adult social care, children’s services and education, environment and community services; professional services and workplace modernisation.

The project is considered absolutely crucial for the future operational and financial stability of all Council services set against the backdrop of further pre-announced central government cuts to the council’s funding and also includes a radical review of the Council’s working relationships with key partner agencies, such as the CCG and NHS.

Council Leader, Councillor Colin Smith said: “I am extremely pleased for Mr Adetosoye personally, and absolutely delighted for Bromley residents more widely, that he has been confirmed to post as the Borough’s Chief Executive and welcome the thought of continuing our work together on this programme.

“Mr Adetosoye’s track record in local government has earned him an outstanding reputation and with good cause.

“He has already demonstrated the strength of his leadership skills by turning around Bromley’s Children’s service team and establishing strong working relationships both within the council and externally.

“Following a glowing recent appraisal and an outstanding appearance in front of a panel of elected Councillors reviewing his performance to date and answering questions concerning his ambitions for the future, his confirmation to post was a very simple decision to make

“He is, quite simply, the best man for the job, and I know that I can speak for all Bromley Councillors when I wish him the very best of good luck in his new role.”
