From 1 April 2025, Bromley Council will change bank from HSBC to Barclays Bank Plc. While most residents and partners will be unaffected, some may need to update their payment details to ensure we receive this.

If you are still using previous bank account details, please make arrangements to use the new account details.

Paying by direct debit is the most efficient way to pay the council and you can easily set this up through our website.

Paying the council by bank transfer

If you make payments to the council by bank transfer, then please note, you now need to use the new bank account details, with this change starting from 1 April 2025.

Cash payments

Online payments and particularly direct debit are preferred payment methods as they are more efficient to collect, meaning more of your payments can be spent on council services. But if you are making cash payments to the council at the bank or post office, then you will need to request new Giro slips from the council first.

While new slips are being delivered, please find an alternative method of payment, with further guidance on our website depending on the payment you are making. If you are using the Penge Library kiosk to pay, then this will be unaffected.

If you require any assistance related to the change in bank, get in touch.
