The Crisis and Resilience Fund offers short term assistance to residents who need immediate support due to an unexpected event or urgent circumstance. Applications for this Government funded scheme are being accepted from Monday 13 April, with the online application process being live at that point along with telephone support.
Details
As part of the application process, applicants to the CRF will be expected to share details that help the Council understand their situation and what might have happened if a crisis payment is being applied for.
All applications will be considered on a case by case basis, with successful applicants receiving either a supermarket voucher, energy card, virtual payment card, cash or a direct payment to their landlord, depending on what would be most suitable.
Any payment is discretionary, subject to eligibility checks and CRF funds being available, with applicants receiving:
- Crisis Payments offer short-term help for immediate essential needs following an emergency or unexpected change. We may arrange a home visit to verify the crisis information provided, which will help assess need and what available support would be best.
- Housing Payments offer extra help with certain rent and housing costs; for example rent shortfalls, arrears, rent in advance, deposits, or emergency housing costs. Applicants applying for housing support must be in receipt of Housing Benefit or the housing costs element of Universal Credit.
Applicants will need to share details such as proof of income, along with their tenancy agreement (if applying for a housing payment), with this required documentation able to be uploaded as part of the application process or separately if needed.
