Nature Friendly Verges logo

Bromley Council is undertaking a two year trial of a new nature, friendly management regime for grass verges at selected sites across the borough. By allowing these verges to grow it is hoped that they will act as wildlife corridors to connect habitats and greenspaces, increased floral diversity and increase pollinator habitats.

What are Nature Friendly Verges?

Current trial (2025 to 2027)

The following locations have been converted to nature friendly verges as part of our current trial.

  • Cameron Road (Bromley Town)
  • Crofton Road (Farnborough and Crofton)
  • Foxgrove Road (Beckenham Town and Copers Cope)
  • Gates Green Road (Hayes and Coney Hall)

We are keen to hear from those who live, work or study in the borough and from those who visit to find out what you think of these ‘nature friendly’ verges.

We encourage all residents to fill out a short, online survey to tell us what you think

We are also keen to know about the diversity of species that choose the verges as their habitat and residents are invited to share which species they have seen using the citizen science survey.
