When a building becomes unsafe or dangerous, we can and do take action to protect members of the public from physical harm.

The London Building Act of 1939 gives us the power to secure buildings which are unsafe. The Owner, who is responsible, is made aware of the danger and is given the opportunity to make safe the danger. If, however, this is not possible then we can instruct our appointed contractor to remove any immediate danger, erect scaffolding or hoarding to secure the building and/or protect members of the public from injury.
