Make a referral to children's occupational therapy

Referrals can be made by families or professionals. We ask that the permission of the child or young person/family is sought before doing so. We have tried to make the process of referral as easy as possible for families and professionals. You can either complete the referral form or contact our admin team OTAdmin@bromley.gov.uk Tel: 020 8461 7985.

We will contact you to let you know the outcome of the referral.

If you have had a social care occupational service previously

Please continue to check that the adaptations and the equipment we have provided for your child are working well. Do refer to the moving and handling, chair and bed plans that have been provided for home use.

Broken adaptions

If an installed adaptation like a shower in the wet room breaks, please call the warranty or servicing company covering any repairs for this adaptation. Newly installed facilities like a shower will have the manufacturer’s warranty for the first 12 months or longer. You may also have your own extended warranty. We do advise that you take out a service or warranty plan when this expires so you are always covered. If you are a resident of a housing association, they may take on this responsibility, so please contact them for assistance through their repairs helpline.

Broken equipment

If the specialist equipment provided needs repair, please call Medequip on Tel: 020 8319 5680. They may temporarily repair the equipment so that it can still be used until a specialist company can become involved at a later date.

Do let the service who provided the equipment know as they may be able to help. It is advised that you cease to use the adaptation/ equipment until it is repaired.

If your situation changes

Contact our service if there are any changes to you or your child’s situation at home which may require urgent assistance, for example:

  • a difficulty has arisen with moving and handling due to your child’s needs or your own needs
  • a Medequip repair now requires occupational therapy intervention for new essential parts
  • safety at home issues have arisen which cannot wait
