Built in 1867, as the offices of the Local Board, the first local administration body.
History
Number 19 East Street formerly the offices of the Local Board (the first body of local administration in Bromley). It stood at the junction of East Street and West Street. The purpose of the local board was to provide such essentials as street lighting and an adequate sewage system for the town.
Did you know?
Bromley Urban District Council became the Borough of Bromley in 1903. Bromley was joined by Hayes and Keston in 1934, and by Beckenham, Biggin Hill, Chislehurst, the Crays, Orpington and Penge in 1964
