Parents/carers must provide consent for this referral

The aim of this referral is to request multi-agency advice and support for a Bromley resident* child/young person (C/YP) of compulsory school age who currently meets one or both of the following criteria:

  • the C/YP is attending a mainstream school but is at risk of not accessing their full educational entitlement, due to experiencing difficulties within the area of social, emotional and/or mental health (this may include challenging behaviour)
  • the C/YP has identified health needs (including physical and/or mental health needs) which currently prevent them from accessing education in their regular school/setting

It may be the case that additional information known to panel members needs to be shared in panel, in order to allow the panel to make a fully informed decision. Parental signature gives consent for this information to be confidentially shared between panel members. It is the referrer’s responsibility to make sure parents/carers understand this when they are giving consent.

Panel members include:

  • Chair – Inclusion Manager(LBB)
  • Panel Co-ordinator (LBB)
  • Inclusion Officer (LBB)
  • SEN representative (LBB)
  • Education Safeguarding Officer (LBB)

By making this referral, the parents/carers and referrer are providing consent for the panel to offer a gateway to one or more of the following services:

Primary/Secondary SEMH Outreach*

Personalised tuition

Alternative education provision

Please be aware Outreach may be provided first to ascertain whether provision is appropriate

*note: BTA SEMH Outreach services are available to Bromley schools but not to out-of-borough schools, regardless of the C/YP’s residence. Support may involve direct or indirect input from the SEMH Outreach Service’s educational psychologist, and may involve information sharing with your own school EP. Please ensure parents and carers are aware of this and have given permission for this to happen if necessary. Please note input from the SEMH Outreach EP would not involve a formal EP assessment; the usual processes for accessing EPS input through the traded service will remain in place as there is not capacity for assessments through the SEMH Outreach Service.
