Mental wellness is generally viewed as a positive attribute, such that a person can reach enhanced levels of mental health, even if the person does not have any diagnosed mental health conditions. This definition of mental health highlights emotional wellbeing, the capacity to live a full and creative life, and the flexibility to deal with life's inevitable challenges.

Stress, depression and anxiety can contribute to a host of physical ailments including digestive disorders, sleep disturbances, and lack of energy. Emotional and mental health issues can often be brought on by the strains of life situations, like caring for an older family member, dealing with Alzheimer's disease, suffering the loss of a loved one, juggling the responsibilities of a busy lifestyle or dealing with substance misuse. There is information and advice around common mental health issues, find out more about mental health conditions and how you can access services to help you.
