Homes for Ukraine – Additional Support Request Form (2023-24)

To be eligible for additional support, students must live and attend a school within Bromley and have arrived under the Homes For Ukraine visa scheme. We encourage applications from schools that have identified pupil needs that are above reasonable adjustments, and linked with school community cohesion and inclusion of our Ukrainian guests.

If the child/young person you are seeking support for meet the below criteria, you should refer them to the Gateway panel referral form: https://www.bromley.gov.uk/educationgatewaypanel

  • the C/YP is attending a mainstream school but is at risk of not accessing their full educational entitlement, due to experiencing difficulties within the area of social, emotional and/or mental health (this may include challenging behaviour)
  • the C/YP has identified health needs (including physical and/or mental health needs) which currently prevent them from accessing education in their regular school/setting

If you are seeking support related to meeting needs for pupils with English as an Additional Language (EAL), please contact Ukraine.Education@bromley.gov.uk for more information and relevant support on offer e.g. ESOL Family Learning Programme, English support from Turn Around Charity, English conversation buddy system with Btomley Rotary Club, English after school club for secondary school pupils from Hope church.

If you are seeking support related to the support or identification of Special Educational Needs, please contact  ISATandCNT@bromley.gov.uk for more information and relevant support on offer. You may also find relevant information and support available on Bromley Education Matters  here.

Please note the following points:

  • You must have a good idea of costs attributed to intervention before starting this application as you will be required to list the cost of proposed intervention per child.
  • Schools will be required to provide evidence of intervention and any outcomes, if funding is agreed.
  • You have 60 minutes to fill out each page after which the form times out and your work will not be saved.

Examples of interventions which could be considered are listed below:

  • School trips (To enhance relationships/friendships & integration)
  • LinguaPlay (Language outreach service in home language) – To help create pupil profile or to identify any underlying social emotional issues which need to be referred on to other services.
  • After School Clubs – Encourage interaction with a wider school community.
  • Social Skills Support Group – To learn how to initiate play/friendships and how to approach others when in the playground/social setting – to be able to have the vocabulary and language to communicate effectively in this context.
  • Dual Language Books
  • Online EAL platform to develop language proficiency
