Project High Street
Project High Street is part of the London-wide High Streets for All Challenge. The Greater London Authority are funding this challenge to enhance the experiential offer of town centres through a series of events and activities aimed at young people under 25.
High Street Fest
Two exciting event days will make Bromley town centre come alive with an enticing programme of activities and entertainment designed with young people in mind. Come and join in the fun on Sunday 26 March and Sunday 30 April 2023, running from 12 to 7pm on Bromley High Street.
Expect Urban Food Festival street food vans, smoothie bikes (with free smoothies!), live performances on a high street stage, and a chillout tent to hang out with friends – with a chance to try your hand on the DJ booth!
Join a session on our gaming bus or try out a range of sporting activities courtesy of Bromley FC, Mytime Active and Nike Bromley – who are also offering sports bra fittings.
Local traders will have jewellery, clothing, hair products and much more in the market stalls section and you can learn about Bowie and Siouxsie & the Banshees with Bromley Historic Collections.
Upcycle your old t-shirts and jeans by bringing them to Know How You’s Customisation Station to create some new sustainable fashion. Or bring your bike along and get it security marked by the entrance to the library.
Enjoy live performances on stage from Magpie Dance, JusB, ArtsTrain, Hope PRO UK, the Last Minutes, Oliver Anderson, the Showhawk Duo and more!
Get involved
Views are being welcomed from young people aged under 25 to help shape this project and explore how young people experience Bromley High Street. The survey can be completed through Participation People, our appointed consultant.
School workshops
A programme of workshops is also being offered to local schools through this project, to enable students to develop skills in areas chosen by young people. These include financial management, social media, careers advice, music, public speaking, networking and confidence building.
Young consultants
Thank you to all of you who showed interest in becoming a young consultant. Applications to this opportunity have now closed, with those involved now taking part in a series of workshops this spring to develop a vision of the high street for young people.
Night Time Enterprise Zone
Bromley has also been selected as one of London’s three new Night Time Enterprise Zones, which means a further programme of special evening events will be delivered in the town centre later in the year to boost the evening economy. Expect to see evening library activities, an interactive celebration of sports and a winter lights spectacle among these special leisure events.
