Product Description
Supersonic hair dryer in grey with gold markings. Product claims to be 'Dyson' branded but has been confirmed as counterfeit. Consumers are advised to check the warning label on their product – the counterfeit has a misspelled safety warning as pictured.
Hazard
The product presents a high risk of electric shock as the plug does not meet the dimensional requirements of BS 1363 and may not make a secure connection with the socket. This could lead to the user accidentally touching a live part during use and receiving an electric shock. Additionally, the plug fuse does not confirm to the requirements of BS 1362. The fuse is required to ensure the safe operation of the plug under fault conditions, and a non-conforming fuse could lead to the plug overheating and/or exploding. Improvements are also required to product documentation and marking.
The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 or the Plugs and Sockets etc. (Safety) Regulations 1994.
Corrective action
The import has been rejected at the border.
