Hazard
The affected golf cars present a risk of injuries as the cable brake is incorrectly routed meaning there is a sharp bend which creates a stress point. As a result, the cable brake could fail unexpectedly whilst in use and the user may not be able to stop the vehicle as intended.
The affected products do not meet the requirements of the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008.
Corrective action
Recall of the product from end users. Yamaha have launched a modification programme to inspect and replace the brake cable.
Consumers who own an affected golf car should contact their local Authorised Yamaha Dealer, quoting the machine's chassis number to arrange a convenient appointment for the necessary work to be carried out by a Yamaha trained technician.
