A new website is making it easier for children and young people with SEND, their families, and adults with learning disabilities to find information, advice, support and local services in Bromley.
Bromley’s new Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Local Offer website brings useful information and advice together in one place at bromleysend.org.
Cllr Jonathan Andrews, Executive Councillor for Children, Education, and Families said, “We want people with SEND and learning disabilities, and their families, to be able to find the right help when they need it.
“This new website brings important local information together in one clear and easy-to-use place. Whether someone needs help with school, preparing for adulthood, finding work or living more independently, the website is there to guide them.”
The website is for children and young people aged 0 to 25 with SEND, as well as their parents, carers, and professionals who support them. It includes information about education, health and social care services, local organisations, activities, support groups, leisure opportunities, and advice for families.
Families can use the website to find support during the early years and throughout primary and secondary school. They can also explore events and activities for children and young people with SEND across the borough.
The Bromley SEND Local Offer provides advice for important stages in a young person’s life. This includes moving between schools, preparing for adulthood and exploring pathways into further education, training, employment, and independent living. The website has been developed with input and feedback from the Bromley community and will continue to evolve in response to local views.
The website also includes a dedicated Adult Learning Disability Hub, developed with adults with learning disabilities and partner organisations to make information easier to find, understand and use. It includes Easy Read information, visual resources and practical guidance to help people access support and take part in their local community.
The hub provides clear information to help adults:
- live more independently
- look after their health and wellbeing
- stay safe
- develop skills, explore education and employment opportunities
- meet people and take part in local activities
- share their views about local support
Adults with learning disabilities can also find information about local self-advocacy and community groups, including Bromley Together and Bromley Speaking Up.
These groups can help with speaking up and sharing views about transport, health, personal rights, getting older, and things that matter to them, as well as taking part in fun activities and making new friends.
