Bromley businesses and entrepreneurs are being invited to apply for a new round of the Test Trading Market Stall scheme, offering further opportunity to test products at Bromley Charter Market.
The initial pilot scheme saw five enthusiastic entrepreneurs successfully testing their products over the summer at a joint stall at the historic market. Participants generally reported increased business confidence from the experience, acquiring new customers and gaining valuable feedback. Some even discovered improvements to their approach between weeks in the trial that helped to attract customers.
Now a new cohort have the opportunity to gain valuable feedback in the bustling market setting over a longer two-to-four-week period starting this autumn. Participants will trade from 9am to 5pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at affordable market stall rates, along with available business support. These are the usual opening hours of Bromley Charter Market, which was established in 1205 by Charter of King John.
The scheme is being delivered in support of the town centre and local economy in partnership by Opportunity Bromley, Bromley Council, Start Up Bromley and Your Bromley BID.
Councillor Yvonne Bear, Bromley’s Executive Councillor for Renewal, Recreation and Housing, said: “Opportunities like this can make all the difference to new entrepreneurs looking to discover the crucial tweaks to their products or business models that could help them reach the next level. This is why we have extended the scheme, so that more of those in our ambitious local business communities can gain this valuable experience, with Bromley High Street shoppers also benefiting from a wider range of products that complement the existing Charter Market as a result.”
Applicants can apply to join the scheme through the council website, with initial trading commencing from Thursday, 29 October 2026.
