Families can discover SEND support, meet local services and enjoy free inclusive activities at Bromley SEND Local Offer Live this October half term.
Children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities, together with their parents, carers and siblings, are invited to attend the free event at Bishop Justus School on Thursday 29 October.
SEND Local Offer Live will bring local services, professionals and community organisations together in one place, giving families an opportunity to ask questions, receive information and advice, and learn more about the support available across Bromley.
The event is being delivered through close working between Bromley’s Children, Education and Families, Children’s Social Care, and Adult Care and Health teams. By working towards shared goals, the teams aim to help children and young people with SEND receive coordinated support throughout childhood, during the transition to adulthood and into adult life.
Families will be able to explore support covering education, health, social care, wellbeing and preparing for adulthood. There will also be a variety of inclusive taster activities throughout the day, including arts and crafts, dance and drama, music, indoor sports and a pop-up arcade.
Councillor Jonathan Andrews, Executive Councillor for Children, Education and Families said, “SEND Local Offer Live will give children, young people and their families a welcoming and enjoyable way to discover the support available across Bromley.
“Our education and children’s social care teams work closely with colleagues in adult care and health so that children, young people and their families can receive more coordinated support, particularly at important points of change. By bringing teams, services and community organisations together, attendees can ask questions, make useful connections, and better understand the support available at every stage.”
Councillor Diane Smith, Executive Councillor for Adult Care and Health said, “Supporting young people to prepare for adulthood is a shared responsibility, and strong partnership working helps make that journey as positive and well-coordinated as possible.
“By working together across children’s services, education, adult care and health, we aim to help young people pursue greater independence, wellbeing and inclusion. This event will allow families to meet some of the people involved and explore the support available both now and in the future.”
Whether families are looking for specific advice, want to learn more about local services or would simply like to enjoy an inclusive day out, SEND Local Offer Live offers a free opportunity to explore what is available in Bromley.
