Could you help a teenager thrive? Bromley is looking for more foster carers to provide stability, support and a safe place to call home for local young people.

Residents are being encouraged to consider fostering a teenager and make a lasting difference to the life of a local young person.

Cllr Jonathan Andrews, Executive Councillor for Children, Education and Families said, "Teenagers have great potential, but they need people around them who believe in them and provide consistent support. Foster carers can have a life-changing impact by helping young people build confidence, achieve their goals and prepare for adulthood. We need more residents to come forward and consider fostering a teenager. If you have the time, patience and compassion to help a young person thrive, we would love to hear from you."

Many teenagers in Bromley need foster carers who can offer stability, encouragement and a place where they feel safe and valued. While fostering younger children is often what people first think of, teenagers also need caring adults who can support them through some of the most important years of their lives.

One young person currently looking for a foster family is Aisha.

Aisha likes to get to know people properly before she opens up. She has a brilliant dry sense of humour and is a great judge of character. An enthusiastic reader of fantasy and crime novels, she quickly gets through books once she finds one she enjoys. She also likes writing, enjoys cooking from scratch and is not afraid to share her views on how food should be seasoned.

She is thoughtful, independent and values having a say in decisions that affect her life. Aisha is interested in maths and business and is thinking about her future after school.

What Aisha needs most is time, patience and consistency. She is looking for someone who will be there for her, build trust at her pace and support her as she grows in confidence and independence.

Bromley's fostering team is keen to hear from people from all walks of life who have the commitment, compassion and spare room needed to make a difference. Full training, guidance and ongoing support are provided to all foster carers.

Fostering a teenager can be an incredibly rewarding experience. By opening your home to a young person like Aisha, you could help provide the stability and encouragement they need to achieve their ambitions and build a brighter future.

Could you be part of a young person’s story, like Aisha?
