The Mayor of Bromley is thanking poppy vendors across the borough in the lead up to Remembrance, where residents are set to come together in reflection.
Poppy vendors are being thanked for their dedication and commitment, as local volunteers for the Royal British Legion were met across the borough by the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Bromley. The council will be represented at 31 Remembrance services across the borough on Sunday 8 November.
The Mayor of Bromley, Councillor Christine Harris, said: “Remembrance is a crucial period for us both locally and nationally, as we reflect on the sacrifices of those who have served and, in many cases, sadly died for our nation. My sincere thanks to the local poppy vendors for their commitment to raising important charitable funds, which also helps ensure that the poppy remains prevalent throughout the borough during this period of Remembrance, reminding us to take time to reflect. We will remember them.”
Remembrance Day services will be held throughout the borough on Sunday 8 November 2026, with services and attending council representatives detailed. Local residents groups and Business Improvement District teams have also helped decorate the borough with poppies adorned on trees and lampposts as a visual reminder of the period of Remembrance.
Bromley has more veterans than any other London Borough and the council signed the Armed Forces Covenant in 2023 to renew its commitment to supporting the armed forces community and have been working with partners to develop this support. Bromley Council recently received Gold accreditation for this support from the Ministry of Defence alongside other local gold award recipients Bromley Football Club and SATOS Media. Further information is available at www.bromley.gov.uk/ArmedForces.
