The Friends of Crystal Palace Park skatepark hosted the first major event at the new skatepark in Crystal Palace Park on Saturday 25 August 2018.

This community-led event was funded by the council’s Community Projects Fund for the park and featured demonstrations from professional skaters, skate lessons for all ages and abilities and competitions with prizes and giveaways.

The new skatepark opened to the public earlier this year, welcoming skateboarding back to Crystal Palace Park where the first major UK national skateboarding competition took place in 1977.  The 1,100m2 wheeled sports facility was designed by Kinnear Landscape Architects and designed and installed by Canvas Ltd.  It features a range of terrains for BMX, quad-skating, rollerblading, scootering and skateboarding and offers something for riders of all abilities.
