The following open letter is the lead article in Bromley Council’s Our Bromley e-newsletter.

Dear Resident,

Easter is upon us already – where does the time go!?

As you will hopefully have seen by now in the latest paper edition of ‘Our Bromley’ and from the articles below, it has been a very busy and hearteningly successful start to the year at the Civic Centre.

Following on from the earlier good news of the Outstanding Ofsted judgement for Bromley’s Children’s Services, and confirmation that we remain first across the Capital for recycling, recent weeks have added two nationally prestigious awards.

A Gold for the excellent work of the Council’s Tackling Loneliness team and a silver for ‘Working Together‘ on Bromley’s Homeless Health Project with the Borough’s Health Professionals. Added to the bronze status awarded for our evolving work supporting the Armed Forces Covenant locally, that is quite a haul and something those involved to feel extremely proud of themselves for achieving.

This is especially true given the brutal financial headwinds currently besetting the Local Government sector and the challenge now of course becomes one of keeping such initiatives up!

Looking ahead for the Easter break, please don’t forget to use the Council’s webcams to check ahead if you are minded to use either Churchfields or Waldo Road waste and recycling centres. Both do get very seriously busy at this time of year and are obviously best avoided at busier times if you can.

Fingers crossed for a spell of decent weather and an end to all this rain.

Kind regards and best wishes,

Colin

Councillor Colin P. Smith
