To build on the successes of the borough’s nighttime economy, a new night strategy has been launched to enhance and support the varied evening offering available across the borough.
Working with partners and local businesses, the Bromley Borough at Night Strategy will guide targeted interventions to support and expand on the unique evening leisure options available to residents across the borough’s town centres. Action plans for the next five years will be tailored to the opportunities and challenges of each area, supporting businesses to flourish and deliver the evening activities that residents want for their leisure time.
The strategy builds on the success of the Night Time Enterprise Zone (NTEZ) programme that was established in Bromley Town Centre in recent years and will ensure the borough is best place to benefit from future opportunities for external funding, to deliver for residents while saving council taxpayer money. The NTEZ programme saw thousands attend events like Library Lates, which featured silent discos, cocktail making, and live performances.
Councillor Yvonne Bear, Executive Councillor for Renewal, Recreation and Housing, said: “This strategy is about working together to shape the future of Bromley’s evening economy. There is already so much to discover across the borough during the evening, whether its fantastic shows at Churchill Theatre in Bromley, lively nights out in Beckenham or Penge, or delicious meals at one of Orpington’s many independent restaurants. By working with our partners and local businesses, we will build on these strong and varied foundations to make the most of future opportunities and ensure that Bromley continues to thrive at night.”

Progress in delivering the strategy, including in each of the borough’s town centre, will be shared in due course.
