The Waldo Road Reuse and Recycling Centre will reopen on a limited basis in January, at weekends, whilst work to complete the upgrade of the infrastructure at the site continues.
Details of when residents will be able to book appointments to visit will be made available in due course, with a limited range of bulky items being able to be disposed of from the last weekend in January 2026. A full booking system will continue to be available at the Churchfields Road site, with the limited re-opening of the Reuse and Recycling Centre in partnership with Veolia, giving expanded options for residents ahead of a full opening.
Councillor Will Rowlands, Executive Councillor for Environment said, “As we press ahead with the upgrade work, which will be completed much later in 2026, I am pleased to confirm the re-opening of our Waldo Road Reuse and Recycling Centre in the New Year, open at weekends. We know for many residents that the weekend is a popular time to recycle unwanted bulky items and this additional disposal option will help residents in this popular period.”
Councillor Rowlands added, “We have appreciated the support and understanding of our brilliant residents during this upgrade period, which is why I want to share this news for awareness as soon as possible. We will share more details nearer the time as well.”
The weekend garden waste site at Norman Park will close next weekend, 29 November, with other sites already closed and all sites will then reopen after Christmas to help residents recycle their Christmas tree and dispose of other garden waste as well if needed. These garden waste sites will then re-open again to coincide with the spring gardening season.
Residents will initially visit the site through the Baths Road entrance which will be carefully controlled to minimise inconvenience for all. When the site fully re-opens, access will once again be via Waldo Road.
