A new provider to help residents manage direct payments is in place, with directly employed Personal Assistants also being supported as part of the new arrangements.
Residents are being contacted by the council and The Disability Syndicate, the new provider, to confirm the existing arrangements and ensure that continuity of care and support continues. The Disability Syndicate is a social enterprise, with experience of supporting individuals to live more independently in other areas of the country.
Direct Payments gives eligible residents, including parents of a child with a disability, the choice to buy and manage their own care support, with existing arrangements continuing and The Disability Syndicate managing this service on behalf of the council and residents receiving Direct Payments.
A Bromley Council spokesperson said, “Ensuring that residents are able to live independent lives as far as possible remains as important as ever. We are pleased to be working with The Disability Syndicate who have experience of supporting individuals receiving direct payments so that they can arrange their own care and support. Our existing arrangements are continuing and residents receiving Direct Payments are being contacted to share details of the new provider.”
Raj Johal, Managing Director of The Disability Syndicate, said, “We are delighted to be working with Bromley Council and to have the opportunity to support residents in building independence, choice, and control over their care. Our priority is to make this transition seamless and ensure every individual feels confident, informed, and supported with their Direct Payment arrangements.”
