As part of the council’s continuing enforcement to prevent potential fly-tipping, a vehicle has been seized in St Mary Cray.
The Ford Transit tipper, which was found fully laden with waste, was seized in the vicinity of Star Lane, following work by council officers, supported by police. Investigations continue, with the owner advised to come forward, with the vehicle at risk of being crushed, subject to the outcome of the investigation.
The seizure took place in the vicinity of Star Lane, where a court injunction remains in force to prevent fly-tipping in and around St Paul’s Cray Hill Country Park. The owner of the vehicle can claim it by proving their ownership along with valid insurance, with full details available by contacting the council.
A council spokesperson said: “Given the ongoing investigation, we are limited in what we can say right now, but the owner of the vehicle is encouraged to come forward and claim it. It remains as important as ever though, that residents and businesses make checks on anyone they are entrusting to dispose of their waste. Remember to make sure that the person or company is a licensed waste carrier. Failure to make these checks could result in prosecution if your waste is subsequently found fly tipped.”
Residents are reminded to always verify that any tradesperson or company they hire to remove waste holds a valid waste carrier licence. Ask to see their permit and confirm what types of waste they are authorised to handle. Residents can also check the official waste carrier register online via the Environment Agency website or by calling 03708 506 506.
Enviro crimes can also be reported at www.bromley.gov.uk/envirocrime, with rewards of up to £500 available for information leading to prosecution.
