Bromley Works, the council’s new employment and skills service, have launched an initial programme to support eligible residents across the borough into high quality employment.
The Connect To Work programme will be delivered for the borough by the Bromley Works service, with the support of local businesses, partners and training providers who joined at a launch event this week at Bromley Old Town Hall.
The programme will create direct links between residents seeking employment and employers with local vacancies, in support of Bromley businesses and the local economy. The council has secured £2.8m of funding from the Department of Work and Pensions to deliver the Connect to Work Programme, which will deliver personalised and targeted employment support for eligible residents with disabilities or health conditions who are seeking employment. One‑to‑one guidance, skills development, and interview preparation are amongst the varied support that will be offered, working closely with local businesses to help ensure access to local talent.
Speaking at the launch event, Councillor Yvonne Bear, Executive Councillor for Renewal, Recreation and Housing, said: “The Bromley Works service is helping ensure our residents have the skills and support needed to access the high-quality job opportunities we have across the borough. This initial programme is bringing together partners and employers in collaboration from day one, as they know best how to provide the right support for the residents involved to gain employment locally. We will continue with this approach as we further develop this service going forward, with thanks to our partners involved so far.”
Bromley residents interested in receiving support from the Connect to Work programme can do so by submitting an expression of interest form online. Once completed residents will be contacted by the Bromley Works triage team to identify the most appropriate support available.
