Platinum Jubilee

Celebrations will be taking place throughout Bromley for Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June 2022, recognising 70 years of service.

Local celebrations

Cultural events and family activities

A rich programme of cultural activities and events will be hosted across the borough to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee. Over 70 Jubilee themed events have been planned in libraries, such as puppet shows, bake offs, craft events, history exhibitions, and author events.

The #EveryoneaRoyal art challenge invites all children in Bromley to design a portrait of themselves as a Royal on a special template. Submissions are encouraged to your nearest Bromley Library by Monday 6 June, with submission being displayed in The Glades shopping Centre in June and July.

Find out more at your nearest library or book places online.

Pick the best decorated shop in Bromley

As part of the Jubilee celebrations, a best decorated shop competition is being held, looking for the shop that best captures the Jubilee spirit with eye-catching window displays.

As the Jubilee bank holiday approaches, look out for local shops across the borough that are specially decorated in anticipation of the celebrations.

To nominate a stylish shop, take a photo and submit it to us.

Submissions must be received by 30 May and photos should just be of the shop, without any people visible. The best judged display will be announced during the Jubilee Bank Holiday celebrations, with the winning shop receiving £100 gift voucher generously donated by The Glades.

Plant a Tree for the Jubilee

The council is supporting the Queen’s Green Canopy tree planting campaign, in recognition of Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee.

Over 1,500 new street trees are being planted by the council in support of the Queen’s Green Canopy and also as part of our Treemendous tree planting initiative. Some of these new trees are already plotted on the Queen’s Green Canopy map.

Residents, scouts and other community organisations are also encouraged to take part in the celebration by plotting any trees you plant this year on the Queen’s Green Canopy map including photos of the tree being planted, if possible.

Find out more about the council’s tree planting and how you can become a Tree Friend at www.bromley.gov.uk/trees.
