Winter Service Policy - Weather information
An efficient and effective Winter Service is only possible with information about conditions that is reliable, accurate and provided in a timely manner.
The council will continue to use cost effective technology to ensure that decisions can be made with the advantage of having the best weather information available. Since 2018/2019 Bromley Council has subscribed to the DTN winter service roads forecasting service ‘Roadmaster’, this arrangement is now contracted for a further 5 years.
The council owned weather stations will be used by DTN to fine tune their forecasts for the London Borough of Bromley high and low ground domains. Bromley owned weather stations are maintained and certified by contracted service provider Vaisala.
