Bromley Council in partnership with Veolia has launched Recycling Heroes a free education programme covering all there is to know about recycling and waste minimisation.

Specialist advice from Bromley Council’s education team as well as feedback from Balgowan Primary School and Crofton’s Junior School has been key to ensuring that this Key Stage 2 programme not only helps the council encourage students to understand how important recycling is but is also a useful resource for teachers with activity sheets and engaging videos.

With a target to become carbon neutral as a council in 2029 and as one of London’s leading boroughs for recycling, Bromley aims to encourage a new generation to become the next environmental leaders and help make Bromley even greener

How the programme works

The programme can be delivered virtually and face-to-face in classrooms with its animated graphics. There is the opportunity for pupils to ask questions to real-life recycling experts and all those that complete the course will be awarded certificates and graduate as recycling heroes. Having created their own personal recycling and waste minimising targets pupils will leave the classroom equipped with the superpowers they need to influence their families and friends to recycle and minimise their waste at home.
