Many services are accessible to everyone but some levels of service are intended to support children and young people with specific conditions or who have a level of need that cannot be met through universal services alone.
To receive support from specialist services, a child or young person’s disability must be permanent and substantial and have a negative effect on their ability to do normal daily activities and their family’s wellbeing.
Children’s nursing team
The children's community nursing team provide specialist nursing care for children with additional needs, such as a disability, behavioural difficulties or a long term condition.
Children and young people’s continuing care service and personal health budgets
A small number of children and young people (0 -18), who have very complex health needs arising from congenital conditions, disability, long-term or life-limiting conditions or serious illness or injury may need additional health support to that which is routinely available from our universal or targeted health services.

Hollybank – specialist short break and respite service
Hollybank, run by Bromley Healthcare, offers a respite service in Bromley for children aged 5 – 18 years with disabilities, complex health care needs, autism and challenging behaviour. Access to this service is via an assessment by the disabled children’s team
Emergency bed service
Hollybank can offer an emergency bed for your disabled child if they have a similar profile to those children who already attend for short breaks. Contact the disabled children’s team for more information.
Wheelchair services
Bromley Healthcare’s wheelchair and special seating service is a specialist NHS service providing wheelchairs and wheelchair seating for long-term mobility needs, including manual and powered wheelchairs; this includes assessment, provision of a wheelchair or cushion and on-going equipment maintenance. The service will help you to ensure that you get the right kind of wheelchair for your needs, support you on an ongoing basis and be there to help when you need advice or repairs.
The service supports adults and children with a long-term disability (more than six months) or the terminally ill. You must be registered with a Bromley GP. Please visit the service website for further details on service criteria.
Referrals to this service should be made through a GP or another health care professional such as a physiotherapist, occupational therapist or specialist nurse.

Delivery, collection and repair services are through AJM Healthcare The repair service is only available for wheelchairs provided by the Bromley Wheelchair service.
