Manufacturers and products used by Bromley Council in the weed spraying programme

Used in accordance with the manufacturer’s guidelines:

Balance

Manufacturer: Intracrop
Product name: Balance
Product use: Non- Hazardous water conditioner

Many pesticides are very susceptible to the quality of the water they are sprayed in. Water which is hard or with high pH can dramatically reduce the effectiveness of pesticides. Water conditioners effectively reduce the pH, neutralise the cations in hard water and buffer the solution allowing all the active ingredients to remain active without losses. Applying hard water sensitive pesticides in untreated spray water can result in losses of effective pesticide activity of up to 30 per cent.

Hazard Classification: Not classified as hazardous.

Trustee Amenity (Glyphosate)

Manufacturer: Barclay
Product name: Trustee Amenity (Glyphosate)
Product use: Barclay Trust Amenity is a systemic industrial weed killer for the control of most broadleaved weeds and grasses in amenity and industrial situations, forestry and aquatic areas.

For use only as a herbicide for the control of annual and perennial grass and broad-leaved weeds in stubbles, set aside, orchards, forestry, and non-crop areas, and for pre-harvest use in cereals, oilseed rape and linseed.

  • Excellent performance
  • Non-selective industrial weed killer, non-residual
  • Flexible application rates
  • Wide range of applications
  • Controls a wide variety of annual and perennial weed species
  • Systemic activity gives effective control of roots, shoots and leaves.

Hazard Classification: Not classified as hazardous.

Codacide

Manufacturer: Microcide
Product name: Codacide
Product use: Adjuvant

What are adjuvants?

Adjuvants are specialist chemicals that are used to improve the effectiveness of agrochemicals when added to the solution in the spray tank. Many agrochemical manufacturers recommend the use of an adjuvant with their products but many other products can also benefit from the use of an adjuvant. Adjuvants can increase the biological efficacy by actions such as improved spreading and increased penetration of the leaf.

Codacide is an organic natural oil adjuvant that reduces this waste by limiting drift, improving adhesion, spread and the uptake of the target. It protects spray products from dew, rain, evaporation and sunlight whilst safeguarding their overall integrity.

Its unique delivery system improves spraying consistency and extends efficiency by replacing water as the spray products primary carrier. It is now registered for sale in 36 countries worldwide.

Spray drift can be caused by a number of factors including:

  • Wind velocity
  • Nozzle choice
  • Sprayer pressure
  • Vehicle speed
  • Boom height
  • Incorrect equipment setting

The benefits:

  • Reduces wind drift
  • Low cost
  • Reduces damage to adjacent areas
  • Reduces waste
  • Reduces contamination of water courses
  • Complies with best practice

Hazard Classification: Not classified as hazardous.
