There are different Occupational Therapy (OT) services available in the borough of Bromley for children - within Housing, the NHS, Education and Social Care.

Our Children’s Social Care OT Service is based at Bromley Council and has a focus on home adaptations and related equipment. These are some of the areas we will assess if necessary:

  • Access to and from your home
  • Access within your home, to a bedroom, washing/toileting facility, to a family room
  • For managing more easily in your home, such as reducing lifting and carrying of the child/young person (C/YP)

When to refer: The CSCOT team looks at long-term needs, therefore it is necessary to know the C/YP’s therapy goals from the start – so that their potential will not be held back.

Who can refer: Families or professionals. Please do seek the permission of the C/YP/family before making a referral.

Other considerations: We may ask about your own means to provide OT services, for example, if the C/YP is in receipt of a compensation claim.

How to make a referral

Referrals should be made online by families or professionals.

If you are having difficulty completing an online referral, please call us for assistance. Telephone: 020 8461 7985

Providing as much detail as possible will help us to understand your situation in the best way and to prioritise your support. We will review the referral made and if an assessment is required, we will undertake this and may provide advice and information, adaptations and/or equipment as an outcome.

Incomplete referrals will cause a delay and may be returned to the referrer.
