May 2026 local election
Polls are now closed for the London Borough of Bromley Council elections of Thursday 7 May 2026. The count for the election will take place on Friday 8 May from 9am and results will be shared in due course on the 2026 local election results page.
Polling stations
Please make sure that you check your poll card to confirm your polling station or use the election lookup service.
At the beginning of 2025, the council undertook a compulsory review of the polling district and polling places in the borough.
As a result of the review, there have been changes to some of the polling districts and polling stations in the borough.
Subsequently, there are three polling stations that are unavailable for these elections, so changes have been made to the following:

Voter ID
Electors must show one of the valid forms of ID to be able to vote at a polling station at this election.
Who can vote in this election?
So long as they are registered to vote, people who can vote (the franchise) in this election are:
- British (or British Overseas Territory) residing in the United Kingdom
- Irish Citizens
- Qualifying Commonwealth citizens
- Citizens of Denmark, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal or Spain
- Citizens of other EU countries, who on or before 31 December 2020 had permission to enter or stay in the UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man, or who did not need permission, and this has continued without a break
Please note: British citizens living overseas (who are not Members of the Armed Forces, Crown Servants, British Council employees or their spouse or civil partner) are not entitled to vote in this election.
Voting
There will be one ballot paper, which will vary depending on the number of Councillors your ward elects to the council:
- 15 wards – Beckenham Town and Copers Cope, Bickley and Sundridge, Bromley Common and Holwood, Bromley Town, Chislehurst, Clock House, Farnborough and Crofton, Hayes and Coney Hall, Kelsey and Eden Park, Penge and Cator, Petts Wood and Knoll, Shortlands and Park Langley, St Mary Cray, St Paul’s Cray and West Wickham are represented by three councillors and therefore you will have up to three votes (X) on the ballot paper.
- 6 Wards – Biggin Hill, Chelsfield, Crystal Palace and Anerley, Mottingham, Orpington and Plaistow are represented by two councillors and therefore you will have up to two votes (X) on the ballot paper
- 1 Ward (Darwin) is represented by one councillor and therefore you have one vote (X) on the ballot paper.

Postal votes
Postal vote packs cannot be printed until nominations close, which means that these may not be dispatched until 7 to 10 days before the day of poll. Please see the key dates table for details.
Update on postal vote reapplication process
If you applied for a postal vote before 30 January 2024, by law you were required to reapply by 31 January 2026. If you did not reapply, you can still vote by:
- Voting in person at your polling station on 7 May 2026 or
- Applying for a postal vote by 17:00 on Tuesday 21 April 2026
