How we use CCTV in Bromley
Bromley's closed circuit television (CCTV) system comprises of a number of cameras, both temporary and permanent, placed at strategic locations across the borough.
These areas are mainly town centres, busy pedestrian areas such as shopping parades or outside transport hubs, and, other areas that may have suffered or be suffering with anti-social behaviour for example parks and open spaces.

What is CCTV used for?
We monitor the CCTV system mainly for the purposes of public safety, crime prevention, and crime detection. It may also be used for the purposes of detecting other offences, such as illegal use of bus lanes.
Incidents detected by the CCTV Operatives can be bought immediately to Police attention through the use of the ShopSafe network and Police radio system. Common incidents and areas of work include;
- Disorderly behaviour
- Vandalism
- Road traffic incidents
- Shop-lifting
- Finding missing persons
Requests for CCTV installations
Unfortunately we are unable to accept individual requests relating to the installation of CCTV cameras.
Any installations are considered as part of the Safer Bromley Partnership and should be applied for through the Metropolitan Police Service’s Local Policing Team.
In addition, factors such as service priorities and crime statistics may be used in determining where to deploy such resources.
