Penge Library relocation

Penge Library is relocating to the Bromley Adult Education College - Kentwood Centre in 2028, when the lease at the current library site ends.

This move was approved in January 2025 by the Council’s Executive. The centre is just a four-minute walk from the existing library building and improvements will be delivered at the site to allow for the services to successfully co-locate.

The new Penge Library, co-located within the shared Adult Education Centre, is expected to include:

  • A dedicated library area with its own external entrance.
  • Usual library facilities including books for children and adults; children’s library with activity space; public PCs, WiFi and printing; study and reading space.
  • Access to a shared café, break-out areas, activity room, and outdoor green space.
  • Space to hold existing library activities and events including Bounce and Rhyme, ‘Obie’ Interactive Floor Mat, and Something To Do With A Brew.
  • Public toilets and baby changing facilities.
  • On-site parking, buggy storage, and pedestrian access.

To help shape the emerging designs for the new library, feedback is being sought from residents and library users, ahead of a planning applications being submitted later this year.

Provide feedback online or through paper copies of the survey available at the library.
