Following the sad death of Councillor Jonathan Laidlaw, a by-election has now been announced in the Bromley Common and Holwood Ward.

The by-election will take place on Thursday 24 July 2025 for residents living in the Bromley Common and Holwood Hall Ward, after the Notice of Election was published today (19 June).

Residents must be registered to vote in the Bromley Common and Holwood Ward in order to vote, with residents living in this ward able to register until Tuesday 8 July.

As in recent elections, Voter ID will be required at the polling stations, following the change in national legislation. There are various forms of valid photo ID, including passport, driving licence, blue badge, 60+ oyster card, the Freedom pass and many more.

While expired IDs are also accepted as long as there is a likeness, an alternative is available to any residents without valid ID. Residents can apply for a Voter Authority Certificate up to 5pm on Wednesday 16 July, which will also be valid for subsequent elections.

The deadline for new applications for postal voting for the by-election is 5pm on Wednesday 9 July and to apply for proxy voting is 5pm on Wednesday 16 July.
