Residents, businesses and local groups are invited to help shape the future of Bromley by taking part in the newly launched consultation for the borough’s emerging Local Plan.

The Direction of Travel Consultation marks the next stage in the review of Bromley’s Local Plan, which seeks views on the draft vision and objectives as well as the preferred policy direction for a range of Local Plan topics. The Bromley Local Plan is the central planning document for the borough, providing policies in various areas, including on housing, employment, and leisure. The Local Plan review helps ensure the borough’s social, environmental and economic priorities are reflected in the context of wider national and London-wide planning policy.

Councillor Yvonne Bear, Executive Councillor for Renewal, Recreation and Housing said: “We want as many local residents and businesses as possible to get involved and help shape the future of our borough. It is so important that our priorities are reflected in our planning policy. The feedback we receive at this stage can help guide our approach in creating a Local Plan that supports our ambitions for Bromley and protects the unique character of our borough, from the beautiful green spaces to thriving town centres and everything in between.”

The nine-week consultation runs until 26 September 2025 and follows earlier stages of engagement, including the Call for Sites and the Issues and Options consultation in recent years. Feedback from these earlier consultations has helped inform the current consultation and feedback from this consultation will shape the full draft of policies, which will be ready to share in a future consultation next year.

How to get involved

Residents are strongly encouraged to read the Direction of Travel document and supporting materials ahead of responding, which are available on the council’s website.
