We have a team of dedicated family support and parenting practitioners who offer one to one family support focussing on the issues that you say you need the most help with. The main aim of the practitioners is to support parents to protect and develop their children aged up to 18 years by helping to ensure that every child resides in a safe, supportive and happy family.

What support is available to parents and carers?

You’ll find our practitioners based around the borough at our six Children and Family Centres. They are here to provide both face to face and virtual support with issues with parenting, debt, crime, schooling, health, isolation, eviction, drugs, alcohol, domestic abuse, unemployment or just not coping.  However, their support does not extend to clinical or specialist support, families for those residing out of borough or helping families who have not given their consent. Our intervention is typically available for 4-6 months.

The practitioners will help you understand all the support and assistance that is available to you and will try to relieve some of the pressures you and your family may be facing.  They may suggest that you attend a parenting course to assist your family or may encourage you to make use of the services available to you at your local Children and Family Centre.

Information for professionals

If you are aware of a family facing issues with parenting, debt, crime, schooling, health, isolation, eviction, drugs, alcohol, domestic abuse, unemployment or just not coping…refer to the Children and Families Hub.

You must discuss with the family the challenges they are dealing with and the type of the support they would like to receive from a practitioner.

For a family to be considered for 1:1 practitioner support they must:

  1. Give consent (you cannot complete a referral without it)
  2. Not currently being supported by a Social Worker
  3. Have children residing with them
  4. Reside within the Bromley borough
