Bromley Local Plan examination
The council consulted on its proposed submission Draft Local Plan between 14 November and 31 December 2016 in accordance with Regulation 19 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012.
The response to this consultation was reported to Development Control Committee on 12 June 2017 (Item 8) and the council’s Executive on the 20 June (Item 256), seeking agreement to ask Full Council for approval to submit the Draft Local Plan to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government for examination.
The Executive resolved to agree to the submission to the Secretary of State; the Draft Local Plan be referred to Full Council for approval for Submission to the Secretary of State for Communities for Independent Examination and that authority be delegated to the Chief Planner in consultation with the Leader of the Council to approve further information and amendments as required prior to or soon after submission. The Full Council (Item 22) at its meeting on 26 June 2017 approved the Draft Local Plan for submission to the Secretary of State and it was submitted for examination on 11 August 2017.
The Bromley Local Plan examination hearings took place between 4 and 14 December 2017 the council is awaiting the Inspectors Report. For all details associated with the examination visit the Local Plan examination pages.
As part of this process Main Modifications were published for public consultation between 22 June and 10 August 2018. They intended to address some of the issues arising from the inspector’s comments and queries at the public hearings.

Current planning documents
While the Local Plan was being progressed, the majority of the policies within the adopted UDP (July 2006) were saved and form part of Bromley's Development Plan as does the Bromley Town Centre Area Action Plan and the London Plan which is published by the Mayor of London. In addition the council has approved Supplementary Planning Documents for Planning Obligations and Affordable Housing, which are also used in assessing and determining planning applications and development proposals.
