Japanese Knotweed

60 to 70 per cent of the Japanese Knotweed has been removed from London Borough of Bromley land. The GB non-native species secretariat’s ID guide highlights its key features. These include:

  • A zig-zag stems
  • Purple speckled stems
  • Shield shaped leaves with a flat base
  • Small white flower around July / August

What we can do

We can remove Japanese Knotweed within our parks, green spaces, and verges. However, we cannot remove Japanese Knotweed from private property.

If you believe you have seen Japanese Knotweed in our parks or green spaces (and not their native counterparts) please report this through fix my street. Do not try to remove it yourselves, if it is in our parks and open spaces.
