Validation checklists - Householder Planning Application
To be used for residential alterations and extensions to single family dwellinghouses (for extensions/alterations to flats or maisonettes please see checklist for Full Planning Application).
If the application is combined with an application for Listed Building Consent, please also see Listed Building checklist and guidance.
If the application is combined with an application for Demolition in a Conservation Area, please also see Demolition in a Conservation Area checklist and guidance.

Householder Planning Application required. Please be aware this does not include flats/maisonettes, the Full Planning application form is required for these. Please ensure the correct certificate A, B, C or D is signed. If the proposed development encroaches onto the neighbour’s boundary, Certificate B will be required. Please ensure the proposal clearly outlines all key elements of the proposed development and does not include works not to be considered in the application (e.g. works previously approved or to be built under permitted development). Please ensure the applicant details are listed (we sometimes get applications where the applicant and agent are duplicated contacts). Please also ensure to include the size of the proposed footprint in application form or other supporting document. |

The application site must be edged in red, and the plan should include north point and should show the site in relation to adjoining properties and the nearest road junctions and include any land required to access the property from the public highway. |
| Block Plan/Site Plan (to an accurate scale) |
Mandatory on all application where there is an increase in proposed footprint, a proposed outbuilding or for applications where there is a new boundary treatment or vehicle access being proposed. |
For changes to vehicle access/boundary treatment, a more detailed site/block plan is required if there are any changes to the landscaping (e.g. hardstanding). Please ensure to indicate any trees on/adjacent to the site. Please ensure where relevant to include the distance to boundaries. Where no key dimensions are required then please include a scale bar. |

For applications for vehicle access or boundary fencing/walls/gates, a Block Plan should be sufficient if the access/proposed boundary treatment is clearly shown. Please ensure to provide pre-existing and existing floor plans where the application is retrospective, and the works are complete. Please ensure key dimensions are annotated including the width, overall height and depth of the proposed works and where relevant the distance to site boundaries. Where no key dimensions are required (e.g. on existing plans) then please provide a scale bar. Please ensure to include all key dimensions listed above for all key elements of the proposal such as: Extensions (ground and first floor), outbuildings, heat pump/air Conditioning Unit, increase in roof height, solar panels (to show projection), dormers, boundary fence/gates etc, vehicle access, refuse/cycle storage, for applications related to only window changes please ensure to include all key dimensions for the new windows.
