Leafing

The London Borough of Bromley has over 36,000 street trees and thousands more private trees overhanging the highway.

From October to January our autumn leaf clearance programme provides additional crews and equipment to clear leaves from those streets that are known to have the highest proportion of leaves and therefore a priority, other roads will be attended as part of normal routine street cleaning.

With the number of roads in the borough and volume of falling leaves we do not aim to completely clear each road on initial visits but look to remove the worst affected areas.  In that way we look to attend as many roads as possible early in the season rather than have some areas wait several weeks for a crew to attend.

The priority for leaf clearance will be given to footway hardstanding areas, which means grass verges may not be cleared until subsequent attendances.
